Through the World Horizon project volunteers can work in US senior centers for 1 yr while satisfying their military requirement for Germany. Target AudienceSenior Centers that need additional staff. OrganizationsWorld-Horizon GVSC, Kraphol Senior Center in MI and White Rose Senior Center, York, PA. BudgetMonthly stipend for basic needs. ImpactFulltime additional staff, opportunity to take a new, positive and exciting project to the community, and the seniors really enjoy having youthful energy in the center every day. We have developed programs around the idea of cultural exchange and seniors, volunteers, and staff all benefit from this new look at the world. ProblemsThe biggest challenge seems to be finding host families for the volunteers. Most of the volunteers live with center directors or board members while completing their year of service.
