Marketing Senior Center Activities and Programs

Description
Through the years, Aging Services, Inc. has developed a network of free advertising sources. Seven newspapers and five radio stations now announce the weekly activity schedules for all the senior community centers in Indiana County. Press coverage is also often available for special events held in the centers as well as events held in other settings.

Target Audience:
60 years of age and older

Organizations Involved:
Indiana Gazette, Punxsutawney Spirit, Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, Bamesboro Star, Kiski Newspaper, Blairsville Dispatch, Bulletin Board, WDAD, Stereo 1160, WIUP, WJAC and WPXZ.

Budget:
The cost of postage

Impact:
It keeps older adults informed about programs and increases participation. It also introduces the general public to our activities.

Problems:
Originally it takes a lot of phone calls and negotiating to get free regularly scheduled newspaper space.
